How to auto reply to Instagram comments
From a personal Instagram account to a tested comment auto reply: switch to professional, connect the account to Mr Clerko, build the first automation and test it yourself before you rely on it.

1. Switch to a professional account (if yours is personal)
It’s free and takes about a minute. Your followers and posts stay, and you can switch back any time. Note: a private account becomes public. Menu names and order can differ slightly between app versions.
- In the Instagram app, go to your profile and tap the menu (three lines) at the top.
- Scroll down to “For professionals” and tap “Account type and tools”.
- Tap “Switch to professional account” and pick the category that describes what you do.
- Choose “Creator” or “Business” and tap “Next”; the rest is optional.
2. Create an account and connect Instagram
- Create a free Mr Clerko account.
- Connect your Instagram account. Instagram asks you to sign in on its own page; Mr Clerko never sees your password.
- Mr Clerko checks that the account is Business or Creator before it counts as connected. No Facebook Page is needed.
3. Build your first automation
- Create a new automation.
- Type a trigger word such as “price”, or choose “Any word”.
- Choose “A specific post or reel” and pick it, or “All posts and reels”.
- For a public reply, turn on “Comment reply” and write it; you can add up to 3 versions.
- Write the first DM and its button text, and add your link.
- Tap “Go Live”.
4. Test it the right way
Comments from your own account are not answered, so test from a second account: comment the word on the post, check the reply under the comment and the DM, and tap the button to get the link. The click then shows on your Home page and in Analytics.
Questions
Do I need a Facebook Page?
No. You connect with Instagram’s own login.
Why did nothing happen when I tested from my own account?
Mr Clerko skips comments written by the connected account itself. Test from another account.
